ZERO REPORT FILINGS ARE NOT REQUIRED

Iowa has mandated that Purchasing Groups, Independently Procured/Self-Procured, and Surplus Lines Agents submit surplus lines taxes through OPTins. An agent, insurance broker, or business entity should only remit premium taxes due on policies written in the NON-ADMITTED market. An insurance company SHOULD NOT remit premium taxes for policies written in the ADMITTED market via OPTins.
All surplus lines and purchasing group policy filings MUST BE filed under the agent's name.

Purchasing Groups Renewals, Pharmacy Benefits Manager, Third-Party Administrator Annual Reports, and Viatical Provider Renewals and Annual Reports are mandated through OPTins as well.

Important Due Dates

• Pharmacy Benefits Manager Annual Report - February 15

• Surplus Lines Agents, Purchasing Groups, Independently Procured/Self-Procured Annual Filings - March 1

• Purchasing Groups Renewals - March 1

• Viatical Provider Annual Reports – March 1

• Third Party Administrator Annual Report and Verification Form - July 1
